Gfaller and Therese Wiet

Rudi Gfaller (born November 10, 1882 in Vienna , † February 11, 1972 in Bad Ischl ) was an Austrian composer and actor.

Gfaller studied music at the Conservatory of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna . He then had engagements on German and Czech theaters. In the winter of 1906/07 he became a member of the ensemble at the New Theater in Leipzig . There he met the singer Therese Wiet (1885–1971) and married her a short time later.

At that time, the Gfaller-Wiet couple owned a holiday home in Bad Ischl, where almost all of Gfaller's compositions were created.

After his marriage, Gfaller appeared as an actor almost exclusively with his wife. In addition to his appearances, he founded the Panorama Artists' Games in Leipzig . This theater project lasted until a bomb hit in 1943. Bombed out, Gfaller fled to Bad Ischl with his wife. The couple lived here after the end of the war, this is where Rudi Gfaller died and this is where he found his final resting place.
