Rudi Loewenthal , also known as Rodolfo Lowenthal and under the abbreviation Rulo (born May 6, 1908 in Berlin , Germany , † 1982 ) was a German film producer and newspaper journalist .

Live and act

Loewenthal was employed by the production company Terra Film until 1933 . As a Jew, he was released in 1933 and then fled to Austria . In Vienna he founded with his former Terra CEO Erich Morawsky and actor Fritz Schulz in the spring of 1934, the production company Vienna Film KG, Morawsky & Co., whose output on just two films - both produced in 1934 - was limited. Salto into bliss and last love were both staged by company co-owner Schulz. In 1936 Loewenthal produced the Swedish-Austrian film Rendezvous in Paradise with the Swede Lorens Marmstedt , also a production by Schulz, with Max Hansen in the leading role.

In 1937 Loewenthal left Vienna and went to France . In Paris he worked as an acting agent and looked after Rolf Wanka and Leo Reuss, among others . After problems with the local authorities and as a result of the outbreak of the Second World War, Loewenthal traveled on to the Caribbean . In Havana he adopted the abbreviation Rulo and, as a film correspondent and newspaper journalist, published from 1943 to 1950 articles for the German-language emigrant publication Aufbau, based in New York City . In the meantime, in the summer of 1945, he went to Mexico , where he produced films for his own company Fama between 1947 and 1951 under the name Rodolfo Lowenthal. Its last important production was Girls Without Love , a remake of the German film classic Girls in Uniform, made twenty years earlier .

Immediately thereafter, Loewenthal returned to Germany and settled in Munich , where he married for a second time in 1953.
