Rudi Mueller

Rudolf "Rudi" Müller (born March 8, 1927 in Kirchheimbolanden ; † March 20, 2003 in Kaiserslautern ), a teacher by profession, was a promoter of popular sport and international understanding.

Life

Already in the years 1953 to 1962 he became known worldwide for his support of the American conscientious objectors (Pax-Boys), who were active in building settlements for Mennonite war displaced persons in the community of Enkenbach . He also worked as an organist and choirmaster in the Mennonite community.

From 1972 to 1988 Rudi Müller was a member of the dsj board. He was particularly involved in international affairs, for the German-Japanese youth exchange and the sports youth exchange with Israel . These encounters fascinated him so much that sponsorships and partnerships with France , England , Greece , Turkey , Israel and China soon developed. He held a number of offices in German sports organizations and made many contacts with foreign sports institutions. At all Olympic Games from 1972 to 1992 he organized the Youth Olympic Camps of Nations.

Rudi Müller has held numerous honorary posts in sport and in local politics, most recently he was honorary president of the Palatinate Gymnastics Federation and SPD local mayor of Enkenbach-Alsenborn . For a long time, Rudi Müller also shaped his home club, the 1885 Enkenbach gymnastics club. In 1976 this was merged with the sports club of the Enkenbach riot police to form "Turn- und Polizeisportverein eV".
