Rudolf A. Mark

Rudolf A. Mark (* 1951 in Bad Mergentheim ) is a German historian .

Career

Mark studied Russian, Polish, Serbo-Croatian, sociology and economics at the International and Interpreting Institute in Germersheim , which was incorporated into Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 1973 . He then studied Eastern European history, Slavic studies and ethnology in Mainz .

He was visiting professor at Harvard University , research assistant at the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe in Marburg and at the East Academy in Lüneburg . He was a member of the CSCE Commission in Moldova (1992–1993) and an independent adviser to the Council of Europe on nationality issues. Since 1999 he has been a lecturer for politics in Eastern Europe at the Center for Democracy Research at Leuphana University Lüneburg . From 2006 to 2007 he was deputy professor for foreign and international politics in Eastern European countries at the Institute for International Relations at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg , then from 2008 research assistant for international relations and the history of Eastern Europe at the university and since 2013 deputy professor and lecturer at the department .

Mark has done extensive research on the history of the former Soviet Union .
