Rudolf Alfred Höger (born February 12, 1877 in Proßnitz , Moravia , † November 7, 1930 in Vienna ) was an Austrian genre and war painter .

Life

Hoger devoted himself mainly of genre painting, he painted numerous scenes from the Old Vienna with romantic names such as "At the tavern in Grinzing" , "Susanne and the Elders" , "Gaudeamus Igitur" , "Fruit Market in Venice" , "Picnic in Dürnstein ” or “ Im Maien ” . It seems certain that during the First World War , at least from 1914 to 1917, he was a member of the art group in the Austro-Hungarian war press quarter . Numerous works were created there, which are now in the collections of the Vienna Museum of Military History . These oil paintings were mainly created on the Russian and Balkan fronts.
