Rudolf Berger (violinist)

Rudolf ( Rudi ) Berger (* 19th November 1954 in Vienna ; and Khalid ) is an Austrian jazz - violinist , songwriter and composer .

Life

Rudolf Berger received violin lessons as a 4-year-old. He made his first appearances as a jazz musician with Jano Stoijka and Al Cook . Since its inception, he has been a member of the Vienna Art Orchestra , with which he has toured and made recordings over the years. In 1986 the debut album First Step by his jazz formation Good News was released . He was voted "Violinist of the Year" by the jazz magazine Jazz Live in 1985 and 1986.

In 1986 he moved from Vienna to New York City . During this time he played with Astor Piazzolla , Defunkt , Victor Balley and Toninho Horta . From 1998 to 2001 Rudi Berger lived and worked in Brazil , where he was invited to a one-year guest professorship at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais from 1998 to 1999 . In 2000 his album Postcard from Brazil was released .

Berger has been on tour around the world since 2001 and, according to his own words, travels “between cultures”. In 2007 alone, he took part as a band leader or invited guest artist in concerts, festivals and tours in Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Venezuela.

In 2014 Rudi Berger celebrated his 40th stage anniversary and gave concerts in Europe, the USA and South America.
