Rudolf Bergmann

Rudolf Bergmann (born June 2, 1909 in Barmen ; † 2013 ) was a German civil servant and SS leader.

Life

In his youth, Bergmann attended a humanistic grammar school . He then studied law in Halle , Zurich and Bonn . In March 1935 he passed the first state examination in law. On June 3, 1935, Bergmann was transferred to the Secret State Police Office as a court assessor. During this time he joined the SS on September 10, 1935 (membership number 272.246).

In March 1936 Bergmann was entrusted with the management of the Stapostelle in Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg . In July 1936 he was accepted into the internal administration as a government assessor. In the following years Bergmann was promoted in the SS to Untersturmführer (September 13, 1936), Hauptsturmführer (November 1, 1938) and Sturmbannführer (November 9, 1938). On May 1, 1937, he also joined the NSDAP ( membership number 4,583,091).

On February 1, 1940 Bergmann was entrusted as a member of the government with the management of Section IE (a) a 1 (“Budget and Economy of the Security Police”) in the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA). On March 1, 1941, he took over the management of Section II C 3 (“Accommodation and Prisoners”) in Office Group II (“Organization, Administration, Law”) in the same authority. As part of this office, he was not only responsible for the police prisons, but also for the newly established labor education camps at the Stapo offices.

After Bergmann had been promoted to Obersturmbannführer on November 9, 1942 , he was appointed acting group leader of Group II B of the RSHA on October 1, 1943 as a senior councilor.

After the Second World War he lived in seclusion in Wuppertal.
