Rudolf Drews (born August 1, 1920 - April 19, 2006 ) was a German football player who was active as a goalkeeper in the 1930s and 1940s.

Athletic career

Drews became the goalkeeper of Holstein Kiel in the Gauliga Nordmark at the age of 19 . From the summer of 1942, the Gauliga Nordmark was further subdivided due to the advancing Second World War . With the "storks", as the players from Holstein Kiel are also called, who now competed in the Gauliga Schleswig-Holstein , he twice reached the finals of the German championship as a champion. In 1943, Holstein Kiel sensationally beat the multiple champions FC Schalke 04 4-1 in the quarter-finals, not least thanks to his performances, and only failed in the subsequent semifinals against the later German champions Dresdner SC with 1: 3. However, he won the final game for third place at the side of Ottmar Walter , Franz Linken and Kurt Krüger on June 26, 1943 in the Poststadion in Berlin with 4-1 against the Viennese club First Vienna FC 1894 .

Drews was later a prisoner of war . From 1947 he ran again for Holstein Kiel. By 1950 he played 39 games in the Oberliga Nord .
