Rudolf Gaupmann (born March 20, 1815 in Vienna , † November 1, 1877 in Graz ) was an Austrian painter and watercolorist of the Biedermeier era .

Rudolf Gaupmann, son of an accountant, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1828 . He was a student of Peter Fendi . He dealt with portrait painting , lithography , glass painting and was later head of a photographic studio. In 1848 he was captain of the National Guard. From 1870 he was also employed as a painting restorer in Graz.
His son of the same name was born on April 5, 1835 in Vienna and died on October 25, 1909 in Graz; he was also a painter and later also a drawing teacher.
