Friedrich Moritz Alexander Wagner (born July 4, 1845 in Reichenbach , Silesia , † June 11, 1903 ) was a German teacher and historian.

Life

Friedrich Wagner attended the Magdaleneum in Breslau and the grammar school in Schweidnitz , where he obtained his school- leaving certificate in 1865 . He then studied philology , geography and history in Breslau and Berlin. He won the award task "The choice of Konrad II. " Of the philosophical faculty in Berlin. After a short time at the archives in Koblenz and Berlin, he decided to devote himself to the teaching profession. In 1869 he passed the exam pro facultate docenti and in 1871 he was awarded a doctorate in Göttingen. phil. PhD . From 1871 until his death he worked as a teacher at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Gymnasium , especially for history and sports. In 1890 he was given the character of a professor, in 1895 he was awarded the Red Eagle Order, 4th class, and in 1898 the Zentenar Medal. From 1900 he was a member of the Brandenburgia .

In the late Middle Ages, Wagner worked especially for the Swabian League and the Brandenburg electors . He also published some articles on cryptography . His death prevented him from completing the educational history of the Hohenzollern that had begun .
