Rudolf Geiger (lawyer)

Rudolf Geiger (born November 17, 1937 in Wasserburg am Inn ) is a German legal scholar and professor emeritus at the University of Leipzig .

Geiger studied law at the University of Munich from 1956 . There he was in 1963 when Fritz Berber with a thesis on international law situation in Kashmir to Dr. iur. PhD. In 1965 he joined the judicial service of the Free State of Bavaria , where he initially worked as a public prosecutor and finally as a judge at the Munich Higher Regional Court . In 1978 Geiger completed his habilitation at the University of Munich with a thesis on the limitation of states' ability to conclude contracts under international law . In 1984 he was appointed adjunct professor there.

In 1993 Geiger accepted a position at the newly founded Faculty of Law at the University of Leipzig, where he held the chair for European law, international law and foreign public law until his retirement in 2003 .
