Rudolf Gisler

Rudolf Gisler (born March 5, 1942 in Betschwanden ; † December 1, 2004 ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

Gisler was a primary school teacher and in 1990 was elected as a representative of the CVP to the full-time Glarus government council. From 1990 to 1996 he was head of the Police and Military Directorate; 1996 to 2004 of the Education Directorate. In spring 2004 he resigned for health reasons. Before his office as a government councilor, Gisler worked as a community politician in Linthal and was a member of the Glarus district administrator . From May 1, 1994 to May 3, 1998 he was state governor in Glarus; from 1998 to 2002 Landammann .
