Rudolf Heinrich Suttrop (*  July 17, 1911 , †  May 28, 1946 in Landsberg am Lech ) was a German SS-Obersturmführer and used as an adjutant to the camp commandant in the concentration camps Groß-Rosen and Dachau .

biography

Suttrop, married and father of three children, had been a member of the SS since September 1933 (membership number 230.953). In September 1937 he joined the NSDAP . From 1936 at the latest, Suttrop was a member of the camp team of the Sachsenburg concentration camp and, after the camp was closed in July 1937, moved to the guards of the newly established Buchenwald concentration camp . After the outbreak of World War II he was a member of the SS Totenkopfdivision , part of the Waffen SS , and was deployed at the front.

From September 1941 to May 15, 1942, Suttrop was employed as an adjutant in the Groß-Rosen concentration camp under the camp commandant Arthur Rödl . From mid-May 1942 to mid-May 1944 he worked as an adjutant in the Dachau concentration camp, first under Alexander Piorkowski until June 1942, then until the end of October 1943 under Martin Gottfried Weiß , and finally until mid-May 1944 under Eduard Weiter . There, in the role of an adjutant, he was responsible for the concerns of the 235-strong commandant's staff. Basically, he was responsible for the processing of correspondence, telecommunications, management of the vehicle fleet, management of the commandant's office and the practical support of the camp commandant. From May 15, 1944, until March 6, 1945, he served as adjutant under Johannes Hassebroek in the Groß-Rosen concentration camp.

After the end of the war, Suttrop was arrested and tried on November 15, 1945 in the main Dachau trial, which took place as part of the Dachau trials , for war crimes before an American military court . On December 13, 1945 Suttrop was the not independently committed crimes were detected, because of the "assistance and participation in the crimes committed in the Dachau concentration camp" with 35 other co-defendants by the American military court to death by the strand convicted. The sentence was carried out on May 28, 1946 in the Landsberg am Lech war crimes prison .
