Rudolf Kmunke

Rudolf Kmunke (born March 25, 1866 in Vienna , † December 7, 1918 in Vienna) was an Austrian architect and explorer .

Houses built by Kmunke can still be found in Vienna at Ungargasse No. 51 (1905), No. 53 and No. 55 (1906), in Vienna Linke Wienzeile No. 42 and in Vienna-Josefstadt Wickenburggasse 17 (1897).

Private research trips took him to East Greenland and an expedition he led to Central and East Africa (October 1911 - April 1912). He climbed with Robert Stigler (1878-1975) on December 14, 1911 two peaks of Mount Elgon , the Wagagai and the Koitobos, which they called Kaiser-Franz-Joseph-Spitze.
