Rudolf Lehmann (SS member)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rudolf Lehmann (born January 30, 1914 in Heidelberg ; † September 17, 1983 in Ettlingen ) was a German SS-Standartenführer of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler , about which he founded a multi-volume book series in the Munin-Verlag of the SS veteran organization HIAG from 1977.

Life

After attending high school, Lehmann completed an apprenticeship as a hotel secretary and worked in France for two and a half years after completing his training. He became a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 3.143.188) and the SS (SS number 111.883). In Heidelberg he belonged to SS-Standarte 32 from 1932 and after the transfer of power to the National Socialists in mid-May 1933 he moved to Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler (LSSAH), where he initially worked in the office. He graduated from the SS Junker School in Bad Tölz and was judged to be qualified as an SS leader after graduating. He performed his service exclusively with the SS disposable troops .

Second World War

During the Second World War , Lehmann served as SS-Obersturmbannführer and first general staff officer in the war against the Soviet Union in the 1st SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler". In this position he was awarded the German Cross in Gold on November 1, 1943 and the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on February 23, 1944 . From the end of January 1945 Lehmann held the rank of SS-Standartenführer in the Waffen-SS . At the end of the war, Lehmann commanded the 2nd SS Panzer Division "Das Reich" .

post war period

After the end of the war he worked as a commercial clerk in a company for mineral oil, coal and gas. After suffering a heart attack in 1973, he left the company with a severance payment and then worked as the author of an apologetic journal for the "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler". Lehmann was the author of volumes I to III of the multi-part work that was published from 1977 to 1982 by the extreme right-wing Munin publishing house. Volume IV / 1 was created together with Ralf Tiemann. The last volume appeared after Lehmann's death and was edited by Ralf Tiemann. Follow-up editions were published by Nation-Europa-Verlag .

Lobbyist for the Waffen SS

Like HIAG, Rudolf Lehmann was involved in the construction of the “Peiper Myth” as part of the “War Crimes Lobby” (Westemeier). Joachim Peiper , convicted of the Malmedy massacre, was an excellent officer and blameless person. He helped to construct the myth of Peiper as the "last to die of the Leibstandarte", thereby negating the war crimes for which Peiper was responsible. The central evidence from HIAG was quotations from Hauser's “Waffen-SS in action”. Peiper had not experienced any particular admiration during National Socialism, the “Peiper myth” is based on this post-war work.
