Rudolf Michael (politician, 1896)
Rudolf Karl Albert Michael (born December 17, 1896 in Schlawe , † April 19, 1972 in Berlin ) was a German social democrat and local politician , active in the resistance against Adolf Hitler .
Life
Rudolf Michael was born in 1896 to Ida Michael (née Knop) and Rudolf Michael. As an active social democrat and member of the Reichsbanner he was imprisoned by the National Socialists in 1933 . After 1945 he was a local politician in Berlin as district councilor and district councilor for work in the Zehlendorf district .
He worked on rebuilding democracy in West Berlin: In times of denazification, the building of the Berlin Wall , and the beginning of détente between East and West. From 1966 he was the city elder of Berlin . He is buried in the Zehlendorf cemetery in an honorary grave of the city of Berlin.
