Rudolf Picard

Rudolf Picard (* 1891 in Gräfrath ; † January 23, 1976 in Solingen ) was a German teacher and dialect researcher .

Rudolf Picard was a teacher and school principal until 1955. His particular interest was dialect, especially the Solingen plateau . He wrote the first scientifically founded dialect grammar of this dialect as well as an extensive dictionary. "The Picard" is considered a standard work.

Picard headed the dialect group De Hangkgeschmedden for many years , was made an honorary member of the Solingen department of the Bergisches Geschichtsverein and was awarded the Solingen ring of honor in 1969.
