Rudolf Thanner

Rudolf "Rudi" Thanner (born August 20, 1944 in Füssen ; † August 9, 2007 there ) was a German national ice hockey player and local politician .

The defender won six German championship titles with his home club, EV Füssen , for which he played from 1964 to 1978 (1964, 1965, 1968, 1969 and the club’s last in 1973). He played a total of 430 Bundesliga games and scored 73 goals.

From 1967 to 1976 he was a member of the German national ice hockey team. Together with his team-mate Josef Völk , he formed a strong defender duo. Thanner took part in three Olympic Winter Games ( 1968 , 1972 and 1976 ), where he won the bronze medal in 1976 with the team of national coach Xaver Unsinn . Thanner was also a regular member of the squad at the World Championships (2 B and 6 A World Championships). In total, he played 118 international matches in which he scored 20 goals. After his active time, he worked with Alois Schloder as an active and organizer for the DEB tradition team.

After the career

From 1984 to 2002 he was a member of the city ​​council of Füssen . For 25 years he guided beyond the district office as managing the fortunes of the tourism association Ostallgäu . He was also significantly involved in the renovation of the ski jumps in Bad Faulenbach .
