Rudolf Weinmann (table tennis player)

Rudolf Weinmann (born January 9, 1950 in Horn (Lower Austria) ) is a former Austrian table tennis player who won the national singles championship four times in the 1970s. In 1987 he became President of the Austrian Table Tennis Association.

Career

Rudolf Weinmann began his career with the Lower Austrian club Union Horn, which he left in 1967 for UKJ Tyrolia Vienna to play in the state league. From 1972 to 1974 he played in the German Bundesliga at Hertha BSC . He is the first foreigner in the Bundesliga (together with his compatriot Heinz Schlueter ). In 1974 he joined the Miller Traismauer club, where he stayed until 1977. Then he moved to Union Sparkasse Stockerau , today's UTTC Stockerau.

At the national Austrian championships , Rudolf Weinmann won nine titles, four in singles (1971, 1974, 1975, 1976), four in doubles (1969, 1971 with Günter Heine , 1974 with Franz Waldhäusl , 1975 with Josef Rottenberg ) and one in 1974 in mixed with Elisabeth Willinger . He was nominated for four world championships and four European championships between 1969 and 1976 , but never came close to medal ranks.

After the end of his active career in 1982, Rudolf Weinmann took on official duties in the Austrian table tennis association ÖTTV . In the early 1980s he became a member of the State League Committee, in 1983 he joined the board as deputy sports supervisor, in 1985 he was elected vice-president and in 1987 he was elected the youngest president of ÖTTV to date. He held this office for six years.

Private

Rudolf Weinmann is married and has three daughters. In 1976 he received his doctorate in economics. In 1982 he took over the car trading company Zitta in Perchtoldsdorf .
