Rudolf row liss
Rudolfzeileissen (born November 10, 1897 in Vienna , † June 29, 1970 ibid) was an Austrian landscape and portrait painter .
life and work
Lineissen studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1918 to 1921 , his teachers were Josef Jungwirth and Karl Sterrer . From 1922 to 1925 he studied at the Art Academy in Munich with Hugo von Habermann , and from 1926 to 1927 with André Lhote in Paris . He then worked as a freelance painter in Berlin, from 1930 in Paris and in 1931 in Prague , the city of his mother's birth. In 1932 he was in Italy , from 1933 to 1936 in Vienna, in 1937 he was in New York .
He was particularly popular as a portrait painter . Among other things, he made a portrait of Katharina Schratt for the Vienna City Hall . His works can be found in many museums. For example, the Albertina has two Prague vedutas and the Army History Museum has a portrait of the first Austrian Chancellor, Michael Mayr, made by Linienissen.
In 1951 a collective exhibition of his works took place in the Vienna Künstlerhaus . In 1951 he was awarded the Golden Medal of Honor, in 1954 he was awarded the title of Professor , in 1956 he received the Honorary Prize of the City of Vienna and in 1967 the Golden Laurel of the Vienna Künstlerhaus.
