Rudolf Zipkes

Rudolf Gabriel Zipkes (born April 28, 1911 in Zurich ; † April 3, 2013 ) was a Swiss lawyer and writer .

Life

From 1921 Rudolf Zipkes and his brother Ernst attended the Grunewald-Gymnasium in Berlin and passed their Abitur there in 1930 . The father, a Swiss citizen , worked as a chief engineer at a Berlin company. After high school studied Zipkes first two semesters at the University of Berlin , then returned but back to Zurich and graduated in 1931, the infantry - recruit training in the Swiss army . He continued his law studies at the University of Zurich and graduated with a doctorate in 1934 . He became an auditor and trainee at the Zurich District Court . In 1938 he passed the bar exam . In 1947 Zipkes was appointed senior court secretary of the canton of Zurich and in 1973 finally senior court clerk . In 1976 he retired.

In addition to his profession as a lawyer, he was also the President of the Complaints Commission of the Swiss Film Theater Association , today's Procinema , and as a board member of the Jewish Association in Zurich . In 1949/50 he was also President of the Archives for Jewish History and Art .

As a writer, Zipkes has gained recognition for his writings on Judaism . He was also active in drawing.

Zipkes was married from 1962 until his wife's death in 2003.
