Rudolph Brückner

Rudolph "Rudi" Brückner (born July 22, 1955 in Wuppertal ) is a German sports presenter and commentator.

Youth and training

In his youth Brückner attended the sports boarding school in Bad Sooden-Allendorf and drew attention to himself with strong performances in athletics. In 1975 he was the fastest junior over 800 m in Germany. In 1977 he was therefore a member of the Bundeswehr's sports promotion group. In 1980 Brückner had to end his sports career due to injury.

In 1975 Brückner graduated from high school, from 1978 he studied German and sports for teaching in Bonn. In 1982 Brückner successfully completed his studies and in 1983 passed his second state examination for teaching at lower secondary level. In the same year he worked as a freelancer for the Bonner General-Anzeiger and completed a traineeship at WDR .

Career as a sports journalist and presenter

After Brückner couldn't find a job as a teacher, he decided to work as a sports journalist. In 1985 Brückner was head of the sports department at the WDR regional studio in Dortmund. From 1990 to 1993 Brückner worked for ZDF as a sports editor and presenter. He reported on the World Cup, the European Championship and the Olympic Games in Barcelona.

From 1994 Brückner worked at DSF , where he was chief presenter from 1995. From September 3, 1995 to February 22, 2004, Brückner moderated the football talk series Doppelpass . Since October 2004 he has been a lecturer in moderation and media training at the Bonn Academy for Management Communication and Speechwriting.

From 2005 Brückner worked at Eurosport , where he was often a commentator. He also hosted the football talk show Dropkick there , including special editions for the Confederations Cup 2005 and the 2006 World Cup . After 21 issues the show was discontinued again.

Also in 2005 Brückner founded Brueckmedia GmbH .

From October 2009 to October 2013 he moderated the sports talk show Sport and Talk from Hangar-7 on the Austrian private broadcaster Servus TV .

Since July 2013 Brückner has been working as a moderator for Sport1.FM . In 2015 Brückner moderated the football talk Ultra on Tele 5 . Since August 2016 he has moderated the football talk Fantalk on Sport 1 .

Private

Rudolph Brückner has been married since 1980 and has four sons. He lives with his family on a farm northeast of Munich .
