Rudolph J. Wojta

Rudolph J. Wojta (born August 10, 1944 ) is an Austrian journalist and co-founder of the Shakespeare festival in Styria .

life and work

Wojta studied literature and psychology , but eventually began to publish short stories in German and Austrian media, including Die Welt and Die Presse . In 1975 he was hired by the weekly press as a literary and theater critic, but there he also wrote about architecture, film and the visual arts. In 1979 he switched to the newly founded city newspaper WIENER , where he was editor-in-chief from 1981 to 1982. Then he returned to the weekly press , for which he wrote his own column for many years. After the weekly press ceased in 1996, he worked as a freelancer, including for the Wiener Zeitung . In 2002 he founded the Styrian Festival Shakespeare in Styria together with Nicholas Allen , which performed a Shakespeare play in English every year until 2011 . The festival has been performing in German since 2013. From 2003 to 2010 Wojta lived in Murau, after which he returned to Vienna.
