Ruedi Baur

Ruedi Baur (born March 5, 1956 in Paris ) is a Swiss communications designer and author. His focus is on guidance systems and design in space.

Life

After studying graphic design at the Zurich University of Art and Design (HGKZ), he founded the BBV Atelier in 1983 in the Lyon - Milan - Zurich triangle . Six years later he created the "Intégral" concept. Today it consists of six partner studios that focus on corporate identity , guidance and orientation systems and information programs. From 1995 to 2004 Ruedi Baur was professor for system design at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig . In 2002 he became President of the Alliance Graphique Internationale and on March 1, 2004 the University of Art and Design appointed him lecturer and head of the newly founded Research Institute for Design (Design2Context).

The customers of Baurs Ideen include a. the French Ministry for Youth, Education and Research, the Center Georges Pompidou and the Palais des congrès de Paris , the Inselspital Bern , the Swiss national exhibition " Expo.02 ", the Cologne / Bonn Airport and the European University Center in Strasbourg . He also works on designs for redesigning entire districts.

Monument to deserters and victims of the Nazi military justice in Cologne

On September 1, 2009, World Day of Peace , on the 70th anniversary of the German attack on Poland , a memorial he created in the form of a pergola was inaugurated on Cologne's Appellhofplatz , honoring deserters and opponents of the war (see deserters monument in Cologne ). The text on the roof of the pergola commemorates the victims of Nazi military justice.
