The castle was built in the 13th century by the lords of Ehrenfels, an Anselm von Ehrenfels was mentioned in 1257. Later owners of the castle were the Lords of Gundelfingen . Since the castle later served as a shelter for robbers, it was destroyed in 1516 by troops from the Zwiefalten monastery . The remnants of a round keep with a diameter of 7 meters and small remains of a neck ditch are still preserved from the former castle complex .
