Rupert Kimpfler OSB (born September 18, 1638 in Salzburg , † December 6, 1708 in Linz ) was Benedictine and abbot of Gleink Abbey .

Life

Kimpfler came from a noble Salzburg family and was born on September 18, 1638 in Salzburg. He entered the Kremsmünster monastery , where he made his profession in 1656 and was ordained a priest on November 1, 1663. After studying in Salzburg and Ingolstadt, he held the office of dean at the law faculty of the University of Salzburg in 1674 and 1675 .

In 1677 he followed Cölestin Pestaluz as the 36th abbot of Gleink Monastery, where he continued the baroque construction period. In some respects he surpassed the excellent work of his predecessor, which made him go down in the annals of the monastery as the second founder.

During a stay in Linz he died of suffocating catarrh on December 6th, 1708 and was buried on December 11th in the crypt of the Gleink monastery that he had built.
