Ruprecht (Mainz)
Ruprecht (also Ruotbert , Ruitbert , Rothbert , Robert , Rubbert ) († January 13, 975 ) was Archbishop of Mainz from 970 to 975 .
Life
He came from a Saxon noble family. Little is known of his time. In 972 he consecrated Thietmar as the first bishop of Prague . In the same year he was present at a synod in Ingelheim . On this, Bishop Ulrich von Augsburg was accused of having succeeded his nephew Adalbero from the emperor, contrary to canon law. Another synod took place in Mainz in 973 . During the reign of Ruprecht, the Provost Theoderich (later Archbishop of Trier) had the collegiate church of St. Gangolf built.
