Ruslan Wladimirowitsch Albegow ( Russian Руслан Владимирович Албегов ; born January 26, 1988 in Ordzhonikidze , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian weightlifter . It was 2011, and 2013 European champion , 2013 and 2014 world champion and won at the Olympics, a 2012 bronze medal each in a duel in the super heavyweight .

Career

Ruslan Albegow started lifting weights as a teenager. He lives and trains at CSKA Vladikavkaz . His trainer is KD Solojew. The 1.92 meter tall athlete starts in the super heavyweight category, the weight class from 105 kg body weight. He is a student and is supported by the army.

His first international appearance was at the Junior World Championships (U 20) in June 2008 in Cali / Colombia. There he came with 282 kg (170-212) in 4th place and thus just missed the medal ranks. He weighed just over 130 kg at this start. At the European Junior Championships (U 20) in September 2008 in Durres / Albania he came to 387 kg (173-214) and won the bronze medal.

His next start was at the 2010 European Junior Championship (U 23) in Limassol. He increased it to 407 kg (182-225) in a duel and won the bronze medal again. In 2011 he became the first Russian super heavyweight champion, which he secured with a shock performance of 248 kg. At the international championships he was not used in 2011.

In 2012, Ruslan Albegow was European super heavyweight champion in Antalya with 429 kg (191-238). He relegated the Olympic champion Matthias Steiner from Germany, who of course was not in the shape of 2008, to 2nd place. It was then also at the start of the Olympic Games in London. He increased there in a duel to 448 kg (208-240). With this achievement he fought behind the two Iranians Behdad Salimikordasiabi , 455 kg (208-247) and Sajjad Anoushiravani , 449 kg, the bronze medal.

In April 2013 he was again European super heavyweight champion in Tirana. His duel performance there was 442 kg (195-247). He won there, however, only because of his lighter body weight (155 kg) before Artem Udachin from the Ukraine, who also came to 442 kg (200-242), but weighed 169 kg. Ruslan Albegow presented himself in excellent form at the Universiade in Kazan in July 2013. He achieved there in a duel 259 kg (205-254) and won over Bahador Moulaei , Iran, 450 kg (196-254). Ruslan Albegow then presented himself in excellent form at the World Championships in Wrocław in October 2013. There he became - again after a hard fight with the Iranian newcomer Bahador Moulaei - world champion in single combat and in snatch. He achieved 464 kg (209-255) in a duel. Moulaei weighed 458 kg (203-255).

In 2014, Ruslan Albegow focused on the World Championships in Almaty in November. At the European Championship and the Russian Championship, he was not at the start. In Almaty he managed to defeat his two tough competitors, the 2012 Olympic champion Behdad Salimikordasiabi and the Russian champion of 2014 Alexei Lovchev. He reached 462 kg (210-252) in a duel, winning ahead of Salimikordasiabi, who came to 457 kg (206-251). Alexei Lovchev was world champion in pushing with 257 kg, but had three failed attempts in snatching with 205 kg (twice) and 206 kg and thus did not even make it into the duel.
