Bahador Moulaei (born March 21, 1992 ) is an Iranian weightlifter . He became world champion in pushing and vice world champion in duels in 2013 .

Career

Bahador Moulaei from Babul Sar, Māzandarān , started lifting weights as a child. He is a student at the Islamic Azad University in Ghaemshahr .

Over the years he has grown into a world class super heavyweight lifter. He played his first international championship at the age of seventeen in 2009 when he took part in the Junior World Championship (U 18). At that time he already weighed 108.37 kg, achieved 345 kg (155-190) in a duel and thus won ahead of his compatriot Gholamreza Asghaschah. In the same year he started at the Junior World Championships for the U 20 age group in Bucharest in the heavyweight division. After 150 kg in the snatch, however, he made three unsuccessful attempts at pushing, so that he was unplaced.

At the Junior World Championships 2010 (U 20) in Sofia, Bahador Moulaei increased in the super heavyweight to 369 kg (161-208) and thus finished 5th. In 2011 he was also used in the super heavyweight division of the senior Asian championships in Tongling / China. He achieved there in a duel 398 kg (176–222). He finished second behind world champion Behdad Salimikordasiabi , Iran, who achieved 458 kg (208-250). In June 2011 he was then again Junior World Champion (U 20) in Penang. He came in a duel for the first time over 400 kg in a duel. He achieved 408 kg (177-231) and referred his compatriot Alireza Kazeminejad, who on 386 kg (169-231) on the 2nd place.

2012 Bahador Moulaei was at the Junior World Championships (U 20) in Antigua, although he increased to 417 kg (185-232) in a duel, beaten by Magomed Abujew from Russia, who scored 426 kg (191-235).

The year 2013 also started unhappy for him, because he made three unsuccessful attempts in jerking with 232 and 233 kg at the Asian Championships in Astana in June 2013 after 186 kg in the snatch and thus again remained without a duel. But just a month later he was able to fully rehabilitate himself at the Universiade in Kazan. He managed there in a duel an excellent 450 kg (196-254), especially his performance in the jerk of 254 kg was fantastic. He delivered in Astana the high favorite Ruslan Albegow, who came to 459 kg (205-254) a big fight. The duel between Bahador Moulaei and Ruslan Albegow then continued in October 2013 at the World Cup in Wrocław. Bahador Moulaei was used by the Iranian Weightlifting Association at this championship, although until then he was actually only the third best Iranian super heavyweight after multiple world and Olympic champion Behdad Salimikordasiabi and Olympic silver medalist Sajjad Anoushiravani . These two lifters were not used due to differences with the weightlifting association.

Bahador Moulaei fully justified the trust placed in him. He was in great shape in Wrocław, with a personal best of 203 kg in the snatch. In the push, he put up 255 kg in the second attempt and put the high favorite Ruslan Albegow under strong pressure. It took Albegow two tries to overcome this weight. In his third and final shock attempt, Bahador Moulaei then just missed 261 kg and therefore came in second behind Albegow, who achieved 464 kg (209-255).

In the years that followed, Bahador Moulaei was unable to continue this form. At the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, he scored 177 kg in the snap and had three failed attempts in the push. At the 2015 World Championships in Houston, he achieved in a duel only 406 kg (176-230), with which he finished only 15th. At the Asian Championships in Tashkent he was in a slightly better shape and came in second with a duel of 427 kg (180-247). With his shock performance of 247 kg he was Asian champion.
