Ruslan Nurudinov (born November 24, 1991 in Andijon ; also Nurudinow ) is an Uzbek weightlifter . In 2013 he was world heavyweight champion (class up to 105 kg body weight) in duels, snatching and pushing, 2014 vice world champion and 2016 in Rio de Janeiro Olympic champion in the weight class up to 105 kg body weight

Career

Ruslan Nurudinov began lifting weights as a teenager in Andizhan. He is a student and at the Staatl. University enrolled in Andijan. In the meantime, the 1.86 meter tall athlete has grown into the heavyweight category , up to a body weight of 105 kg.

He competed in his first international competition at the Asian Junior Championships in 2009. There he came to 327 kg (146-181) in the light heavyweight duel. In 2010 he was used at the Senior World Championships in Antalya. He increased it in the light heavyweight to 362 kg (165-197). Nevertheless, this performance was only enough for 10th place. At the Asian Games in November 2010 in Guangzhou / China, he increased his performance again. He achieved, however, already in the middle heavyweight , 379 kg (170-209). With this performance he finished 5th, but was not so far from the winner Ilya Ilyin , Kazakhstan, who came to 394 kg (175-219).

2011 reached Ruslan Nurudinov at the World Championships in Paris in middle heavyweight with 398 kg (177-221) the 5th place. With his performance in the push of 221 kg, he won his first medal at an international championship with the silver medal. In April 2012 he was Asian heavyweight champion in Pyeongtaek / South Korea. He achieved 404 kg (184–220). Very well prepared, he went to the Olympic Games in London in July 2012. But he didn't have a good day there. He only managed one valid attempt in both snatch and push. With these attempts he again reached 404 kg (184-220) in a duel. With the 4th place he just missed the medal ranks.

He then made a big leap in performance in 2013. At the Asian Championships in Astana he reached the heavyweight 420 kg (190-230) and won the title there. In July 2013 he also won the Universiade in Kazan. He achieved 412 kg (190–222) there, but spared himself and made only two attempts in pushing. As a favorite, he went to the World Championships, which took place in Wrocław in October 2013. He fully lived up to this favorite position there. He achieved 425 kg (190-235) in a duel, with only one valid attempt in the snatch. With three squeaky clean attempts at pushing, however, he hung the "bread basket" for his toughest competitor Dawid Bedschanjan from Russia so high that he could not come close to the performance of Ruslan Nurudinov. The reward for the achievements of Ruslan Nurudinov were three world championship titles (in a duel, in snatch and in pushing).

At the 2014 World Cup in Almaty, Ruslan Nurudinov fought a fascinating duel for the world title with the local hero and Olympic champion Ilya Ilyin . In the snatch he won with 193 kg, while Iljin came in this sub-discipline to 190 kg. In pushing, Ruslan Nurudinov managed the world record load of 239 kg, but Ilya Ilyin managed to improve the world record in pushing again after failing 240 kg in the second attempt in the third attempt with 242 kg and to achieve the same performance as Nurudinov in a duel with 432 kg and due to a slightly lower body weight to become world champion in a duel. Ruslan Nurudinow won the World Championship silver medal with 432 kg (193-239) in a duel.

In 2016 Ruslan Nurudinow became Olympic heavyweight champion in Rio de Janeiro . He achieved a duel of 431 kg (194-237). Based on the test results of doping samples taken at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Nurudinov, like four other weightlifters, was suspended by the world association IMF on December 23, 2018 . The anti-doping chamber of the international sports court disqualified him afterwards.
