Ilya Aleksandruly Ilyin ( Kazakh Илья Александрұлы Ильин , Russian Илья Александрович Ильин , Ilya Alexandrovich Ilyin ; born May 24, 1988 in Qysylorda ) is a Kazakh world champion and multiple weightlifter .

Career

Ilyin began his international career by participating in the Junior World Championship in Busan in 2005 , where he won gold in a duel in the light heavyweight up to 85 kg with 374.0 kg (168.0 / 206.0 kg). In the same year he also took part in the Senior World Championships and was able to win the title here with a duel of 386.0 kg (170.0 / 216.0 kg). After trailing in 7th place in the snatch, Ilyin took advantage of the relatively high number of failed attempts of his competition in pushing and placed ahead of Lu Yong with 385.0 kg and Aslambek Edijew with 381.0 kg.

In 2006, Ilyin moved one class up to the middle-heavy weight class up to 94 kg. Here he was able to repeat his success from the previous year and became both junior and senior world champion. At the Junior World Championships in Hangzhou , Ilyin lifted a total of 401.0 kg (176.0 / 225.0 kg). Andrej Aramnau came second with 393.0 kg. At the Senior World Championships, 392.0 kg (175.0 / 217.0 kg) and a low body weight were enough to win the title. Iljin, Szymon Kołecki and Roman Konstantinow all achieved 392.0 kg, which is why the duel medals were awarded purely according to body weight. Since Ilyin was certain of victory relatively early in the competition, he went to the world record load of 233.0 kg in the second and third attempt, but failed both times.

After Iljin won the Asian Games in Doha in 2006 with a new Asian record in jerking of 226.0 kg, he went to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . There he won the gold medal, which was later revoked. In February 2009 Ilyin was involved in a knife fight, but was able to leave the hospital after a brief examination.

It was not until 2010 that Ilyin appeared on stage again. At the Kazakh Championships he started with 96.25 kg in the heavyweight division and lifted a total of 413.0 kg with 185.0 kg in snatch and 228.0 kg in push. The 228.0 kg in the push also meant a new Kazakh record. Due to an injury sustained in training, he was unable to take part in the World Championships in Antalya. His most recent start so far (as of February 2011) had Iljin at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou , where he achieved 394.0 kg (175.0 / 219.0 kg) in the middleweight up to 94 kg. In the last push attempt he failed to improve his own Asian record to 227.0 kg.
