Russ Adams (born July 30, 1930 in Worcester , Massachusetts - † June 30, 2017 ) was an American sports photographer .

life and work

Russ Adams' great achievement was the photographic documentation of tennis history that lasted for over five decades . His work included the Grand Slam tournaments , the Fed Cup , the Davis Cup and the Olympic tennis tournaments. In 1955 he was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in the photography category. Adams' pictures graced a total of over 250 magazine covers. The American owned over 1.6 million sports photos and the largest private archive of tennis photographs. In 2007 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame .
