Rustom Khurshedji Karanjia

Rustom Khurshedji Karanjia (mostly RK Karanjia or Russi Karanjia ; Gujarati : આર. કે. કરંજિયા Ār. Ke. Karañjiyā ; born September 15, 1912 in Bombay ; † February 1, 2008 ibid) was an Indian journalist, editor and book author.

Life

Rustom Karanjia is the eldest son of the ophthalmologist Khurshedji Karanjia and his wife Temina; He spent much of his childhood with his maternal grandparents, businessman Burjorji Patel and his wife Ruttonbai, in Quetta . He completed his education at St. Xavier's School and College and Wilson College in Bombay. While still in college, he began his journalistic activities and was employed as an editorial assistant at The Times of India in the 1930s .

In 1941, after consulting with the experienced editors BV Nadkarni and Benjamin Guy Horniman, Karanjia founded the weekly magazine Blitz , which was dedicated to investigative journalism. While Japan's Burma Campaign was he as a war correspondent in Assam and Burma . He later took on the post of editor-in-chief of Blitz and published several political journalism books. Authors associated with Blitz included Khwaja Ahmad Abbas and the Ramon Magsaysay Prize winner P. Sainath . In the 1990s the magazine was discontinued.

Since 1976 was Parse Karanjia followers of the Hindu - guru Sathya Sai Baba . From 1991 to 1997 he was a member of the Rajya Sabha . His brother is the film journalist BK Karanjia .
