The Ruta Nacional 50 is a northern branch of the important Argentine highway Ruta Nacional 34 , which connects Rosario in the province of Santa Fe with the border city to Bolivia , Profesor Salvador Mazza (also called Pocitos ) in the province of Salta . The RN 50 is only 71 kilometers long and is located in its entire length in the Orán department in the north of the country.

The Ruta Nacional 50 begins on the northern edge of the city of Pichanal , where the Ruta Provincial 5 , coming from Las Lajitas in the Anta department , meets the Ruta Nacional 34. The RN 50 leads past the villages of Ingenio San Martín del Tabacal and Hipólito Yrigoyen to the provincial capital of San Ramón de la Nueva Orán , and further north to the border town of Aguas Blancas , which lies opposite the Bolivian city of Bermejo on the Río Bermejo .

The continuation of the road in Bolivia , the highway Ruta 1 is an important connection from the south-eastern part of this country across the entire Bolivian Altiplano to the metropolis of La Paz .
