The Anta Department is one of 23 administrative units in the Salta Province in northwestern Argentina . It is located in the north of the province of Salta and is bordered to the north by the departments of Orán and Rivadavia , to the east by the province of Chaco , to the south by the province of Santiago del Estero and the department of Metán and to the west by the department General Güemes and the province of Jujuy . The capital of the department is Joaquín Víctor González .
The El Rey National Park is located on the territory of the department .
