The Rosario de Lerma department is located in the center of the Salta Province in northwest Argentina and is one of the 23 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the Province of Jujuy , to the east by the La Caldera Department , the Department of Capital and the Cerrillos Department , the south by the chicoana department and to the west by the Cachi Department and the La Poma Department .

The capital of the department is the Rosario de Lerma of the same name .
