The Rivadavia Department is located in the northeast of the Salta Province in northwest Argentina and is one of 23 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered by Bolivia to the north, Formosa Province to the east, Chaco Province to the south and the Anta , Orán and General José de San Martín departments to the west .

The capital of the department is Rivadavia of the same name .
