Route of the Ruta Nacional 34

The Ruta Nacional 34 is an Argentine trunk road . It connects Rosario in the province of Santa Fe with the border town to Bolivia , Profesor Salvador Mazza (also called Pocitos ) in the province of Salta . It is 1488 km long and completely paved.

construction

The road was paved as early as the 1970s, with the exception of a section between Santiago del Estero and Salta. The traffic between these two cities was therefore largely taken up by the Ruta Nacional 9 . Work on the missing section was completed at the end of 2000.

Since 2005, a section in the vicinity of the city of Rafaela has been expanded into a motorway-like expressway to relieve the center of this city.

course

The road begins on the A008 , the Rosario bypass . After crossing the cities of Cañada Rosquín , Rafaela and Sunchales , shortly after Ceres you reach the province of Santiago del Estero (km 399). Behind La Banda , a suburb of the provincial capital , it runs parallel to the Ruta Nacional 9 , which is much more busy in this area , crosses the provincial border of Tucumán (km 912) and passes the provincial capital San Miguel de Tucumán at a distance of about 60 km. After entering the province of Salta , it joins this trunk road in Rosario de la Frontera (km 999).

It passes Metán and splits off again from Ruta Nacional 9 in General Güemes . A short stretch runs through the province of Jujuy (km 1150 to 1243) with the cities of San Pedro and Libertador General San Martín being crossed. Shortly afterwards, she returns to Salta Province. After Pichanal , Embarcación and Tartagal , Profesor Salvador Mazza is reached after 1,488 kilometers.

In Bolivia, the connection is continued by Ruta 9 to Santa Cruz de la Sierra .
