history

The place was founded in 1899 under the name Pueblo Nuevo Ledesma on a site donated by the owners of the Ledesma sugar refinery . Two years later the floor plan was determined and the eight street blocks around the main square were divided.

In 1906 the railway construction reached the place and a train station was built halfway between the town and the industrial complex.
