The Tilcara Department is located in the center of the Jujuy Province in northwest Argentina and is one of 16 administrative units in the province.
It borders the Humahuaca Department in the north, the Valle Grande Department in the east, the Ledesma Department in the south and the Tumbaya Department in the west .
The capital of the department is Tilcara of the same name .
