Ruth Erat
Ruth Erat-Stierli (born August 3, 1951 in Herisau ) is a Swiss teacher , writer , painter and politician .
biography
Ruth Erat grew up in Bern and Arbon . She graduated from the University of Zurich . 1985 doctorate it with a thesis on Mechthild of Magdeburg as a doctor of philosophy . She then worked as a teacher at the teachers' seminar in Rorschach and as a district school councilor, later at the University of Education in Rorschach, then at the national maturity school for adults in Sargans and St. Gallen. Since 2016 she has been working exclusively as a painter and writer . In 1999 she took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt . Today Erat is based in Rheineck , Canton St. Gallen . As a member of the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland , she was a councilor for Rheineck from 1991 to 2001 . From 2004 to 2008 she was a Cantonal Councilor in St. Gallen . She has been in the Arbon city parliament since 2015.
Ruth Erat is the author of narrative works and a member of the Association of Authors of Switzerland , the Artists' Professional Association Visarte and the Swiss Werkbund .
