Ruth Lotmar

Ruth Lotmar (* 1910 in Munich ; †  1989 in Bern ) was a German biologist .

Career

Ruth Lotmar did her doctorate in 1933 at the University of Munich under Karl von Frisch with a thesis on the color sense of bees , with special emphasis on the ultraviolet . She then worked in the zoological institute of the University of Basel , in the biology department of the JR Geigy AG Basel company, at the beekeeping institute in Bern-Liebefeld, as well as in the rheumatism clinic and in the institute for physical therapy at the University of Zurich .

The little animal Nosema lotmarae is named after her.
