Ruth Schob-Lipka

Ruth Schob-Lipka (born March 31, 1928 in Leipzig ; † March 7, 2011 ) was a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Ruth Schob-Lipka studied singing with E. Schneider in Leipzig . Her debut took place in 1952 in the soprano role of Marta in Eugen d'Albert's musical drama Tiefland in the Döbeln theater . She stayed here for the next two years, moving to Eisenach from 1954 to 1958 , then to Halle until 1962 and finally to Walter Felsenstein at his Komische Oper Berlin . Here she distinguished herself not only as a singer, but also because of her special stage presence.

In the first year of her engagement, she was - as partner of Werner Enders (King Bobèche) and Rudolf Asmus (Popolani) - Queen Clementine in Felsenstein's production of the Knight Bluebeard , a role that she embodied in 369 performances over the next 29 years. In addition to many other roles, Felsenstein cast her as Marcellina in his last production ( Mozart's Marriage of Figaro ) in 1975.

But she was also cast in numerous notable roles with other important directors of the house, Joachim Herz , Götz Friedrich and Harry Kupfer .

With the ensemble of the Komische Oper she has performed in numerous cities and countries.
