The Marriage of Figaro is a theater recording of the television of the GDR of Walter Felsenstein's staging of the opera of the same name in four acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the Komische Oper Berlin .

The arrangement by Walter Felsenstein is based on the libretto created by Lorenzo Da Ponte . The production had its premiere on February 26, 1975 at the Komische Oper Berlin and was Walter Felsenstein's last production. The orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin was under the direction of Geza Oberfrank and Gerhard Wüstner led the choir soloists of the Komische Oper. The rehearsals for the members of the Komische Oper dance theater ensemble were carried out by Tom Schilling and Klaus Kretzschmann . Eleonore Kleiber designed the costumes and Reinhart Zimmermann created the set .
The first broadcast on television took place on November 28, 1976 in the first program of the television of the GDR .
A restored version from 2009 is available on DVD.
criticism
Hans Jürgen Schaefer stated at the theater premiere in New Germany :
“... that Felsenstein succeeds in making the thoroughly complicated course of the turbulent events extremely clear with the scenery. There is no sound, not a word, the meaning of which is not staged and communicated. "
