Ruth Walz

Ruth Walz (born January 2, 1941 in Bremen ) is a German theater photographer , known for her work at the Berlin Schaubühne am Halleschen Ufer in the 1970s and 80s and her longstanding collaboration with (among others) directors Peter Stein and Klaus Michael Grüber , Luc Bondy , Peter Sellars , Pierre Audi and Robert Wilson .

Life

Ruth Walz is the daughter of Richard Bertram-Nothnagel and Lore Bertram-Nothnagel. After studying at the Berliner Lette-Verein , she began her photographic career as a still photographer for Ulrike Meinhof's film Bambule (TV play) and in advertising (e.g. for the Berliner Kindl brewery ) before she took a permanent position at the Berlin Schaubühne am Halleschen Ufer in 1976 . She has been working as a freelancer since 1990 (e.g. for the Salzburg Festival , the Wiener Festwochen and De Nationale Opera ).

She lives in Berlin . Her longtime partner was the actor Bruno Ganz .
