Ruth Wetzel-Steinwedel

Ruth Wetzel-Steinwedel (born June 16, 1948 in Weingarten ) is a German lawyer and former Vice President of the Federal Social Court .

Life

Wetzel-Steinwedel studied law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . After completing her studies, she worked as a lawyer in Stuttgart . In 1975 she received her doctorate . From 1977 she worked as a judge at the Reutlingen Social Court and the Stuttgart Social Court . From 1983 to 1985 she was a research assistant at the Federal Social Court (BSG). In May 1985 she was appointed judge at the State Social Court of Baden-Württemberg . From March 1987 to March 1989 she was a research assistant at the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe .

Wetzel-Steinwedel was appointed judge at the Federal Social Court in March 1989. In September 1998 she became chairwoman of the 5th Senate of the BSG, which was responsible for disputes in the area of pension insurance for workers , and in March 2001 she was also chairwoman of the 8th Senate, which was responsible for pension and health insurance for miners. From November 2004 she took over the 11th Senate instead, responsible for disputes relating to employment promotion, and from 2005 to 2008 also for basic security for jobseekers.

On August 27, 2003 Ruth Wetzel-Steinwedel was appointed Vice President of the Federal Social Court. She was the successor to Ingeborg Wolff . She retired in August 2013.
