Ruwertal
The Ruwertal takes its name from the Ruwer , a right tributary of the Moselle . It is near the city of Trier . The upper Ruwertal is located in the Osburger Hochwald and belongs to the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park . The lower Ruwer valley is dominated by viticulture ( area Ruwer in the wine growing region Mosel ). In the lower Ruwertal, in addition to the Trier district of Ruwer-Eitelsbach, there are also the wine towns of Waldrach , Kasel and Mertesdorf .
The Ruwertal Wine and History Trail leads through the Ruwertal from Mertesdorf - Grünhaus to Waldrach to the place of our German Wine Queen . The Ruwer-Riesling-Weinstrasse , also known as the Ruwer-Riesling-Route , leads through the lower Ruwer Valley.
history
The Hochwaldbahn has been running through the Ruwertal from Trier to Hermeskeil since 1889 . This line, which was still used by the Museumsbahn Hochwaldbahn eV after the regular railway operations had stopped, was shut down in 1998 and dismantled in 2000. The Ruwer-Hochwald-Radweg was built on the former railway line.
For centuries until the 1950s roof slate mining was practiced in the Ruwertal , for example in the mines Carlsgrube near Kasel, Vossel , Hohenkaul and St. Peter near Waldrach, Andreasberg near Morscheid, Karlstollen near Riveris and in other mines. In 1888 the landowner Peter Süß (from St. Paulin, Trier) founded Ruwerschiefer AG , which in its heyday employed up to 120 people and existed until 1931.
Lower Ruwertal
The Lower Ruwertal with a size of 8.9 square kilometers is a natural spatial unit in Rhineland-Palatinate . It extends from Trier-Ruwer to Waldrach .
Ruwerengtal
The Ruwerengtal with a size of 39.5 square kilometers is also a natural spatial unit in Rhineland-Palatinate . It extends along the Ruwer from Waldrach to Zerf and also includes the lower Riveristal .
Ruwertallied
The Ruwertal is described in a poem , the Ruwertallied .
Set to music version of Ruwertallieds was the order of 1978 based Wilhelm Junker composed Ruwertalmarschs .
