Ryan Farquhar (born February 2, 1976 in Dungannon , Northern Ireland ) is a British motorcycle racer and with 201 victories (2015) is the most successful Northern Irish driver of road races .
Career
Farquhar made his debut as a professional driver at the Isle of Man TT 2002. In the same year he won the Ulster Grand Prix for the first time . He is one of the most successful road racing drivers based on his first placements. In the 2009 season alone, he was able to set the existing record of racing icon Joey Dunlop with 61 victories . Only in the prestigious Tourist Trophy was Farquhar able to take several podium places but only three first places.
Farquhar competed almost exclusively on Kawasaki . Ironically, in 2006 - for the first time on a Suzuki - he had to take a break for the rest of the year after an accident at the beginning of the season. In 2009 he founded his own racing team , the KMR Racing Team , which also relies on Kawasaki. In addition to Farquhar himself, Michael Rutter , Jeremy McWilliams and Jamie Hamilton compete in road races for KMR . Under the impression of the fatal accident of his uncle Trevor Ferguson at the Manx Grand Prix 2012, he announced his retirement from active racing. Almost two years later, however, he announced his comeback .
In the Tandragee 100 Farquhar, next to the holder of the course record, also the most successful driver.
