Ryszard Guńka (born April 2, 1965 ) is a former Polish ski jumper . He became Polish champion with the team in 1985 .

Career

Guńka, who started for TS Wisła Zakopane , was among the best in several national youth competitions and was therefore considered to be a young talent. At the age of seventeen he made his debut in the European Cup in 1983 , but missed the points. Even at his first World Cup start in the context of ski flying in Oberstdorf in 1984, he landed far behind in the lower ranks.

In January 1985 Guńka won his first three European Cup points when he was thirteenth. A few weeks later he missed the medals at the Polish championships in the individual as fifth on the Skalite normal hill and seventh on the Malinka (large hill) , but won the championship title together with Tadeusz Bafia , Janusz Duda and Bogdan Zwijacz . In the following years he was three times ski jumping runner-up with the team, as well as one silver medalist in the team at the Nordic Combined Championships .

After his active career, he worked as a technical delegate for the FIS in ski jumping. In the 2019/20 season he will also be a judge in the World Cup.
