Sándor Palotay

Sándor Palotay (born September 25, 1926 in Lupény , † August 5, 1979 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian Adventist theologian and preacher .

Life

After graduating from college , Palotay studied theology at a Seventh-day Adventist seminary , was ordained a clergyman, and headed the economics department of his church. Soon afterwards he was appointed secretary of the Council of Free Churches (SZET), became its managing director and had been its chairman since 1969.

Since 1960 he has worked as the editor in charge of the Baptist magazine " Friedensbote ". In 1966 he founded the seminary of the Council of Free Churches. Since 1972 its graduates have been able to take the priestly examination at the Reformed Theological Academy of Debrecen . Palotay himself was there in the same year his teacher's degree , and 1978 he was at the Evangelical Theological Academy as a doctor of theology doctorate . He published numerous articles in the "Friedensboten", in the " Theologische Rundschau " and other ecclesiastical papers and edited writings, also together with others. The Adventist Jenö Szigeti was one of his friends . In a book published by both of them they dealt particularly with the preaching of Jehovah's Witnesses , which they contradicted with their own insights of faith.

Since it was founded, Palotay was a member of the Christian Peace Conference , at whose All-Christian Peace Meetings in Prague he participated from 1964 to 1978.
